The wife said I should start playing golf....

Only, I am going to start playing Foot Golf!  I just found out this was a real thing today.  It combines soccer and golf. I searched for a course near my house and found out that Keith Hills CC has a course.  Better yet, they are having a free event march 9th.  I'm already signed up with a 2:30 tee time.  I am super excited to give this a try.

No More Liga de Coats

It turns out that team I had been playing with in Liga de Coats has decided to not participate anymore.  While I will miss the competition, I will be glad to get back to my previous Sunday morning pick-up games where I can get a little more exercise and work on my skills handling the ball with my feet.

Wonderful Spring Day

What a wonderful day today was.  We started off the day at the BSA troop 141  pancake breakfast at Applebee's .  Before we could even get home, Arsenal scored against Sunderland.  Home to watch the remainder of the game and a convincing victory . The highlight of the day had to be the geology hike at Occoneechee Mountain .  There we learned about the eastern most mountain in NC that is part of the Appalachian Mountains.  We learned about the unique geology and pyrophilite that make the area unique.  Along with the geology, the mountain, at 867 feet, is the highest point in Orange County .  This lead to some wonderful views of the Hillsborough area. Arsenal, One Leg Down

What looked promising fell apart yesterday as Arsenal battled Bayern Munchen  in the UEFA Champions League . It will be a difficult task to come away with a victory as Arsenal travel for the next leg of the knockout stages.  We still have the Premier League and FA Cup for a chance at some hardware this season.

10 from R.E.M.

I have been seeing quite a few "Top 10 R.E.M. songs" articles on the we over the past couple of months. Jude Rogers of The Guardian has submitted a list and this has got to be my favorite so far.  I really love all the songs listed and love even more how the extra songs mentioned in the descriptions are also some of my favorites.  It's a bit shocking that "Losing My Religion" didn't make the list.  To this day, that song really stands up and is a staple of the 1990's.  Of course, I could never list just my top 10, it would be much too difficult.  I'll just have to sit back and enjoy others lists.

The wife is at a conference

To most people this would mean a separation from their loved one as he or she is in a different city, learning, networking, and spending time with their co-workers.  This time is different however.  Her conference is in town and I get to drive her there and home everyday.  I even have the pleasure of spending lunch with her.  yesterday we went to The Pit . Today though, we are going to choose a more casual environment at Manhattan Cafe .  Unfortunately, tomorrow is the last day of the conference and once again I will be driving solo and lunch for one at my desk.

I'm not a vegetarian....

But my ex-wife was.  During that time I made many vegetarian meals.  One of my favorites was a substitute chicken... cutlet... thing .  Recently, my son asked me to make this again as it has been a couple of years since we last had it.  So I prepared the same way I did then, which he rarely ate.  A little EVOO and balsamic vinegar along with some Italian herb blend I keep on hand.  I put it on the grill for a while and served it along with some yellow rice and green beans.  Kid loved it!!

Arsenal Host Everton in the 6th Round

Both Arsenal and Everton are through to the next round of the FA Cup .  I am glad for Arsenal, as they are my favorite side.  However, I am happy for Tim Howard of Everton as he is my favorite GK!  Yes, I love it when USA players make it big oversees and especially goalkeepers.  I will be cheering for both sides, but feel I will be more enthusiastic for an Arseanl victory come March 8th!

Arsenal Win! Comets Lose, Tables Finished, Not Done.

Weekend recap, Arsenal  advance in the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Liverpool.  Comets lose their Liga de Coats match with all the goals coming in the second half.  The old end tables in the house have been sanded and refinished. Glass should be done this week and then I can finish the new third end table.  Tomorrow, back to work and hopefully Revit in lieu of Autocad.

New year, New Mix CD

As a child of the 80's and 90's a mix tape is something special.  Something you create for a friend or "special friend."  Making a mix CD is an annual tradition for me.  It started in 2011 when I met my future wife.  I made a CD for her to "get to know me" a little better.  Since then, every February I have made her a CD.  This year she had the idea for me to make a CD for her of things we have gone to see over the preceding year (February 2013 - February 2014.)  I thought that was a wonderful idea so I set about looking at our Google Calendars and compiling a list.  Here is the playlist of songs I compiled.  There are a couple of special songs on there.  First of all, while we did not see Bob Marley, we did see The Wailers as part of the LP Tour .  So I have a CD of Bob Marley's last concert before his death which I used complete that part of the mix CD.  I also found some Youtube videos of Fun and Tegan and Sara which I c...

Arsenal, still near the top.

I was glad to be home on a snow day  Wednesday as it gave me the opportunity to watch Arsenal try to make amends for their poor performance on the weekend.  Fortunately, The Gunners were able to at least tie Manchester United which keeps them in second place for the time being.  Hopefully this coming weekend will see them tie the Liverpudlians in their FA Cup match . Come on you Gunners!!

10 Acoustic Tracks From Band Of Horses!

I picked up the new album from Band Of Horses Tuesday.  I was very impressed with the arrangements of all the songs, especially "The Funeral" and "Wicked Gil."  Of course, nothing could beat "No One's Gonna Love You."  If you are a fan, you must pick this up.

ITEOTWAWKI (and I feel Fine)

Well, the snow and ice hit. Tuesday, what normally takes 30 minutes to drive, took 90. We found a puppy on the road, still looking for the owners. The kids now have at least two more snow days to make up.  Not sure about the roller skating tonight for the middle school kids.  I still have a reservation for dinner.
